Service Packaging & Pricing

Service Packaging & Pricing

Standardize how we bundle, price, and evolve services—while leaving room for future products and add-ons.

Purpose & Outcomes

Make quotes consistent and profitable, keep options clear for clients, and give us a framework to add future services without confusion.

  • Three clear subscription tiers with defined upgrade paths.
  • Price guardrails, discount rules, and renewal terms.
  • Alternate pricing models for special cases (fixed fee, value-based, performance-based).
  • Quarterly review process tied to costs and market feedback.
Notes

Future-ready by design

Treat features as modules—easy to add/remove. Pilot new modules with a few clients, then roll into add-ons or upgrade a tier.

Keep the Core tier simple to preserve the incentive to move up.

Packages & Tiers

Model

Hourly (T&M)

  • Use for ad-hoc work outside packages
  • Transparent, simple to invoice
  • Set a standard hourly rate + 1-hour minimum
Model

Flat-rate / Fixed Fee

  • Defined scope projects (e.g., migration, major build)
  • Requires accurate estimates & change-order rules
  • Great for client cost certainty
Model

Value-based

  • Price to outcomes (e.g., Core Web Vitals, conversions)
  • Best for high-impact consulting
  • Needs proof points and clear ROI story
Model

Performance-based

  • Tie fees to uptime or page-speed improvements
  • Requires measurable targets and solid telemetry
  • Aligns incentives; contracts must be clear

Pricing Strategy & Guardrails

  • Know your costs & margins. Include direct + indirect costs; target healthy profit.
  • Benchmark the market. Position against peers; justify value with outcomes.
  • Segment customers. Keep three tiers to capture budgets without custom quotes every time.
  • Keep Core simple. Preserve upgrade incentives; avoid “Core-plus-everything.”
  • Review quarterly. Adjust for cost changes, adoption, and support load.
Tip

Future modules

Maintain a backlog of potential modules (AI analytics, advanced SEO, Performance & Infrastructure pack). Pilot, price, then ship as add-ons or tier upgrades.

Discounts & Renewals

  • Annual prepay: 10–15% off (paid upfront).
  • Volume: 10% off (5–10 sites), 20% off (>10 sites).
  • Non-profit: ~10% off (verification required).
  • Military: 30%–50% off (active-duty, veterans; verification required).
Cannot stack with other promos unless pre-approved; apply to package fees only unless stated otherwise.
  • Seasonal promos: Use sparingly to avoid devaluing services.
  • Renewals: Auto-renew monthly/annually; 30-day notice for termination; pricing changes with ≥30-day notice.
Policy

Floor price & approvals

Never discount below the documented floor price without finance approval. Keep margin health by pairing high discounts with term commitments (e.g., 12-month prepay).

Implementation Steps

  • Define or update tier inclusions/exclusions and target customer.
  • Set pricing from cost + margin + market benchmarks.
  • Pilot with a small cohort; gather feedback.
  • Update spreadsheet, proposal/SOW templates, and website copy.
  • Train sales/support; announce internally.
  • Quarterly review: adoption, profitability, and client feedback.
